About Us

Northside Citizens Information Service (Northside CIS) has been serving the community of Dublin North Central for over 10 years. Our doors were first opened to the public in April 1999 and since then the number of callers using our service has steadily increased. Our service now deals with an average of 20,000 queries a year in a combination of outreach clinics, presentations and on-site information provision from our two centres: our full-time branch in the Northside Civic Centre and our part-time centre in Beaumont.

Our Structure

Northside CIS is a company limited by guarantee, a registered charity governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. Northside CIS is funded and supported by the Citizens Information Board. In the volunteering tradition that started the Citizens Information movement in the late 1960s, our service has a number of volunteers working alongside other members of the team from Community Employment (CE), Job Initiative (JI) and contract staff. There is no doubt that given the length and breadth of the work we carry out, the diversity of our staffing resources only adds value and strength to the work that we carry out on a day-to-day basis. In addition, our Board of Directors represent a number of agencies and organisations that we work closely with as well as independent community members bringing to our organisation expertise, commitment and vision.

Our Mission Statement

Northside CIS will strive to provide access to relevant information to all citizens in a caring and dedicated high quality service that is free, independent, accessible and confidential. We aim to set out all available options and advocate on behalf of all citizens when necessary to enable them to realise their due rights and entitlements.

Our Values
